TERRE HAUTE — Marcella K. “Marcy” Sparks, 74, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 7:10 p.m. in Davis Gardens. She was born March 21, 1938, in Los Angeles, to Basil and Elizabeth Gorden. Marcy attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary and Ivy Tech, earning an Associate Degree. She worked at Ivy Tech for five years and retired from Columbia House.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Patricia Treadway and sister-in-law, Joan Gorden.

Marcy will be missed by her college sweetheart and husband of 531⁄2 years, Bob Sparks; her daughter, Shonda Cheever; her brother, Mike Gorden of Needles, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Mabel Thorne and her husband Paul; and two nieces, three nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been chosen. A memorial service will be Monday, June 18, 2012 at 2 p.m., with visitation from noon until service time at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 3050 E. Davis Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47803. Pastor Dick Triestram will be officiating. If friends so desire memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a food bank of your choice.
