St. Louis — Donald E. Lazzell, 82, of Terre Haute, died Sunday, March 14, 2010, in Royal Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was a computer analyst for Reuben H. Donnelly. He was born May 30, 1927, in Westville, Ill., to Clyde Lazzell and Jenny Timmerman Lazzell.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jean Tincher Lazzell; a son, Jay Lazzell and his wife, Linda of Terre Haute; a daughter, Jill Parker and her husband, Dave of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Jason Chatman, Jenny Lazzell, Chris Lazzell, Sarah Lazzell, Lindsay Chatman, Jess Lazzell and Zachary Parker; six great-grandchildren, Blake Chatman, Maddie Shattuck, Jayce Shattuck, Cayden Rollins, Ayden Bridwell, and Paige Terrell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carl Lazzell; and a sister, Sharon.
Memberships include Eastside Church of Christ, past dean of The Hammond Organ Society, past dean of the American Guild of Organists, and the Data Processing Association. Donald served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was Mr. Indiana in 1956 for his weightlifting skill. He was a graduate of both Loyola University and Indiana University, taught music for 25 years and was recently inducted into the Wabash Valley Musician’s Hall of Fame. He will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th St., with Minister of the Gospel Coy Siddall and Pastor Abe Miller officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites performed by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972. Visitation is scheduled for today from 4 to 8 p.m. As Donald was an avid animal lover, if friends so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society, P.O.
