. — GREENCASTLE — Leland David Plessinger, 80, of Greencastle, died March 9, 2010. He was born Aug. 7, 1929, in Greencastle, to James O. Plessinger and Verna A. (Freeman) Plessinger.

He graduated from Greencastle High School in 1947, served in the Armed Services from 1951 to 1953, and retired from Allisons in 1981. He attended Victory Baptist Church in Manhattan, was a member and past master of the Greencastle Masonic Lodge, was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed playing guitar for several country music bands throughout the years.

He married Josephine Joan Polifroni, on Aug. 20, 1955, in Terre Haute, and she survives. Also surviving are three sons, Robert of Montgomery, Mich., Phillip and wife Carla of Greencastle, and Christopher and wife Gretl of Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandchildren, James Plessinger of Bloomington, Matthew Plessinger and wife Kari of Anderson, Jessica Plessinger of Montgomery, and Michael Plessinger of Tallahassee; two sisters, Mary Keller of Sycamore, Ill., and Bernice Zimmerman of Greencastle; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Jay, and Jake; and sisters, Dorothy, Carolyn, Doris and Edith.

Masonic services and private graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Indiana Memorial & Cremation Services in Indianapolis.
