MARSHALL, ILL. —
MARSHALL, Ill. — William L. Kile, 94, of Marshall, passed away 6:10 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind. He was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Clark Co., Ill., the son of Albert and Gertie Johnson Kile. He married Mary Ellen Garner on Jan. 17, 1942, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 9, 1988.
He was a farmer and until his recent illness, he lived on the farm he and his wife had owned since they were married, which was a Centennial Farm.
Surviving are his four children, Linda Kuykendall, Judie (Jerry) Nave, LuEllen (Charley) Rose, and Brent (Glenda) Kile, all of Marshall; grandchildren, Tom Kuykendall Jr., Lee Ann (Vern) Reinert, Kile Nave, Elise Nave, Gretchen (Travis) Beltz, Eric (Rebecca) Rose, Stephanie (Chad) Bennett and Holli Kile; great-grandchildren, Drew Fendrich, Joe Reinert, Ben Reinert and Ellen Reinert, Jordan Nave, Jacob Beltz, Maxwell Beltz Brenna Beltz, Zia Beltz, Leighton Beltz, William Rose, Amelia Rose and Jackson Bennett; his siblings, Winona Burnam of West Union, Ill., George (Betty) Kile of West Union, Mary Lou Laird and Eliza Nelle Arbuckle, both of Marshall, Henry (Shirley) Kile of Columbus, Ga., Nina (Steve) Shipman of Lexington, Ky., and Albert (Anna) Kile Jr. of Danville, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Walter Garner of Martinsville, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Betty Rogers and Martha Garner, both of Marshall, and Irene Garner of Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Thomas Kuykendall Sr.; brothers, Wilbur Kile, and Bert Kile; and a sister, Bertha Jackson.
He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church and was a graduate of Marshall High School. He was a dedicated, faithful, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He assumed family responsibility for his siblings at the early age of 18 when his own father passed away. He lived a quiet life, teaching those his life touched by demonstrating honesty, humility, kindness, love and generosity. He loved the Lord and taught his family to share his faith. He loved working with the soil and watching the crops grow. He served as the supervisor of Anderson Township for many years. He enjoyed serving the families in his community. Each year he hand wrote a yearlong weather prediction and shared copies of it with his family and friends. He loved playing pool and taught many boys and men to enjoy the game. He was a man of his word who enjoyed the friendship of many. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Services in honor of his life will be 11 a.m. CDT Friday, June 29, 2012, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with Brother Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Marshall Cemetery Association.
