TERRE HAUTE — Helen J. Kress, 95, formerly of Terre Haute, passed away Nov. 26, 2012, in Allisonville Meadows Nursing Home, in Fishers. She was born Aug. 25, 1917, in Terre Haute, to Joseph Melcho and Alice Lenne Melcho. Helen was a member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, in Terre Haute, and was a member of the altar society there. She also was a member of the Catholic Charities Christmas Store, Angels for Babies, and was a very large advocate in the church. She enjoyed playing Yahtzee and canasta, and will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Kress; two brothers, Louis and Joseph Melcho; two sisters, Loretta Parker and Elsie Hoovler; and one son, Joseph “Tony” Kress.

She is survived by five daughters, Suzanne Hawkins (Richard), Mary Kay Kress, Margie Wooden (Kenny), Joanne Foli (Richard), and Alice Prothero (Jeff); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Mass of Christian burial will take place Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, with Father Rick Ginther officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at the church. A special thank you to Dr. Helms and the staff at Allisonville Meadows for their loving and compassionate care of our mother during her time of need. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Catholic Charities Christmas Store, or a charity of your choice. Greiner Funeral Home in Terre Haute was entrusted with arrangements.
