Dr. Donald B. Fread

TERRE HAUTE — Dr. Donald B. Fread, 87, of Terre Haute, died early Saturday morning, November 24, 2012. He was a Dentist having practiced in Terre Haute for over 46 years. He was born September 27, 1925 in Terre Haute to William O. Fread and Edna Burton Fread.  

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jane Ann Price Fread; a son, Don P. Fread and his wife, Cynthia, of Indianapolis; two daughters, Cindy Readinger and her husband, Ron, of West Terre Haute and Nancy Rodia and her husband, Jay, of Indianapolis; a brother, Bill Fread and his wife, Norma, of Carmel, IN; three grandchildren, Nathan Readinger, Jordan Readinger and Wesley Readinger; a great-grandson, Jack Readinger; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was a graduate of Garfield High School, received his Bachelors degree from Indiana State University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. During World War II he served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a member of Maple Avenue United Methodist Church, American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, I.U. Alumni Association, I-Mens Club I.U. Varsity Club and was a 32nd degree Mason. He also was formerly a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #86, Country Club of Terre Haute and Breakfast Optimist Club. Don loved sports, especially golf, and was a member of both the ISU and IU Tennis Teams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Reverend David Rockhill officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Tuesday from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. The family kindly requests that memorial contributions may be made to Wabash Valley Community Foundation, 2901 Ohio Blvd., Terre Haute, IN 47803 or to the charity of your choice.
