Marshall, Ill. — Zola M. Maurer, 88, of Marshall, passed away 5:03 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall. She was born May 4, 1924, at Martinsville, Ill., the daughter of Charles Staley and Bertha Weber Staley. She married Earl Maurer on Aug. 5, 1943, in Robinson, Ill., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1993.

Surviving are a son, Donald (Pat) Maurer of Fletcher, N.C.; a daughter, Carole (Dan) Hill of Springfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Tami (Terry) Dooley of Springfield, Health Hill of Springfield, and Samantha Maurer of Fletcher; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Dooley of Houston, Jacob Dooley and Joshua Dooley of Springfield; two sisters, Hazel Keller of Martinsville, Ill., and Mildred Dix of Oklahoma; a brother, Larry (Brenda) Staley of Terre Haute, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Staley.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Marshall, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a graduate of Martinsville High School. She was retired from the TRW Facility of Marshall after 25 years of service.

Services in honor of her life will be 11 a.m. CDT Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Pearce Funeral Home, 314 S. 6th St., in Marshall, with the Rev. Tim Duke officiating. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Congregational Church.
