TERRE HAUTE —
Kathryn Dolinski (nee Kovachic), age 89, passed away peacefully, comfortably and with dignity the evening of Friday, Aug. 10, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Dolinski; daughter, Denise Harriett Kelly; sisters, Mary Krahies, Anne Durcho, Sophie Fields, and twin Martha Alspach; and brothers, Eli Kovachic, Peter Kovachic, and Thomas Kovachic.
Kathryn is survived by a sister, Helen Strohm of California; daughters, Bunny (Al) Knapp of Long Island, N.Y., and Dierdre Dillon of Terre Haute; son, Harry (Charlotte) Dolinski of Vermillion, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Albee Knapp, Beekay (Tom) Daly, Kristien Knapp, Patric Knapp, Matthew (Karla) Knapp, Denise (Kevin) Geiser, Kip (Sherry) Kelly, Sarah Dillon, Rachel (Eric) Williams, and Kate Ward; and eight great-grandchildren, Tommy Daly, Nic Daly, Ryan Daly, Morgan Knapp, Claire Kelly, Colt Kelly, Max Myers, and Molly Williams.
Kathryn was born and lived in Whiting, Ind., until she was 64 years old. She attended Whiting High School and St. John Baptist Catholic Church. Upon retirement from Lever Bros. Co. she moved to Long Island, N.Y., where she lived for the next 13 years with her daughter, Bunny Knapp and her family. While in New York she enjoyed working for Este Lauder, trips to Atlantic City and Radio City Music Hall Christmas Program. She moved back to the Calumet Region at age 80 and enjoyed the next six years playing Bingo, working at Strack and Van Til, visiting with her sisters and reuniting with many lifelong friends in the region. At age 86 she moved to Terre Haute to live near her daughter, Dierdre Dillon and her family. She lived in Maryvale Apartments on the campus of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, where she attended Mass and became acquainted with many Sisters of Providence. Kathryn dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially took great pride in watching and attending all sporting events and school activities as often as she could with them.
A special thanks to Debbie Trierweiler at Maryvale Apartments, Susan Hester, NP, at UAP Clinic, and Val Jones at Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
Any memorial donations in Kathryn’s memory may be made to Visiting Nurse Association/Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 8th Ave, Terre Haute, IN.
Mother, thank you for being the very best mother in the world. Love, Dierdre and Bunny.
