CENTER POINT, IND. — Thelma Irene Stevenson, age 89, long-time former resident of Center Point, went home to the Lord from the Brazil home of her granddaughter, Laurie Pleake, on Jan. 23, 2012, with family at her side.

She was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Clay County, as the daughter of Chester and Zella Bullerdick McLain. As long as health permitted, she was an active member of Ashboro United Methodist Church. Family and friends enjoyed her delicious potato salad, deviled eggs, and cherry delight.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a baby brother; her first husband, David C. Bell, who was killed in World War II; second husband, Harold C. Stevenson; son-in-law, Larry E. Maurer; and granddaughter, Julie Stevenson Cooprider.

Survivors include daughters, Phyllis Maurer of Center Point, and Catherine Lee of Mississippi; one son, Chester Stevenson and wife Sue of Brazil; grandchildren, Leanne (Russell) True, Steven (Kelly) Maurer, Christine (Marty) Heffner, Laurie (Jimmy) Pleake, David (Jeny) Stevenson, and Kara (Jason) James; 16 great-grandchildren with one more expected, Nikki, Dustin, Austin, Jason, Kellsy, Mallory, Griffin, Jordan, Allie, Meredith, Ian, Kambree, Eli, Noah, Jadyn, and Kailee; six great-great-grandchildren, Jordan, Sabrina, Sydney, Zachary, Makayla, and Bentley; one sister, Ruth Boyce and husband Wayne of Seelyville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at Moore Funeral Home, 142 N. Washington St., in Brazil. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ashboro United Methodist Church, Center Point Volunteer Fire Department, or Hospice of Wabash Valley. To send condolences to the family visit:
