Herbert Lee Bredeweg

LINTON — Herbert Lee Bredeweg, age 80, of Linton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at Southwood Transitional Care, in Terre Haute. He was born in Linton on Nov. 10, 1932, the son of Roy H. Bredeweg and Maude (Fiscus) Bredeweg. He was a 1950 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Lee worked as an insurance agent for Commonwealth for many years, then Peoples Trust Company for many years.

He was a member of Saron United Church of Christ, Civitan Club, and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks 860, all of Linton.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Madeline (Hazelrigg) Bredeweg; two daughters, Cynthia Catherine (Todd) Idle of Rockville, and Karen Kathleen (Willis) Deardorff of Brownsburg; five grandchildren, Dan (Amanda) Rector, Shaun (Jamie) Rector, Lucas Rector (fianceé Allyson Melloh), Emilee Deardorff (fiancé Stuart Purcell), and Logan Deardorff; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his infant son, Charles Leroy Bredeweg; three brothers, John, Herman, and William Bredeweg; and his parents.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Saron United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, and 10 a.m. until services Monday, at the church.
