Ruth Ann Svihla

Houston — Ruth Ann Svihla, 15 months, of Houston, died on Jan. 30, 2013.

Ruth was known for her gorgeous brown eyes, wide smile, social graces, and stubbornness. She and her family thank you for all your thoughts, wishes and support. She will be greatly missed.

Ruthie is survived by her parents, Ryan and Rita Svihla, of Houston, formerly of San Antonio; and also by a very special aunt, “Oba “MaryBeth DeLeon, who put her life on hold to help in the daily care and nurturing of Ruthie; godparents, Richard and Allyson Hamlin and their son, Hudson, of San Antonio; paternal grandmother, Doreen Ann (Svihla) Jones of Terre Haute and Clay County; paternal great-grandparents, Charles and Frances Svihla, and great-great-aunt, Mary E. Wright, all of Terre Haute; maternal grandparents, Anthony and Cecilia DeLeon, their son, Matthew DeLeon, of Caldwell, Texas, as well as their daughter, Sarah DeLeon of Austin; and numerous extended family members.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Benjamin Dale Jones, of Cardonia, Ind., as well as infant cousins, Jayden and Caden Svihla of Pittsburgh.

Memorial services were held on Feb. 4, 2013 at Bradshaw-Carter, Houston. Cremation was chosen by the parents with a private ceremony to be conducted at Brackenridge Park, San Antonio, at a later date. The family requests donations in Ruthie’s name to Smile Train, Texas Children’s Hospital, any of the few Pompe organizations (United Pompe Foundation, etc.), Duke University, American Heart Association, one of the Congenital Heart Defects organizations, or a charity of your choice.
