Bud served his country in the U.S. Navy in the Western Pacific from 1944 to 1947. Bud was a lifelong farmer around the Casey area. He took great pride in tending to the land, and that was evident to anyone who worked beside him or drove by the fields he farmed. Everyone in the family at one time or another had heard him say, “Life wasn’t meant to be easy.” When he was younger, in his spare time, Bud poured bin floors for Meeker Bins and Stephens Bins. Bud was always busy working at something but he always had time to stop and visit with fellow farmers, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and friends with little chores they needed. In later years, he and Mary Lou enjoyed spending their winter months in St. Petersburg, Fla. While in Florida they enjoyed attending functions at the Salvation Army and eating fish with friends at the American Legion on Friday nights. Bud was a lifelong member of the Casey Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 5762, American Legion, and Clark County Farm Bureau.
