Monte D. Edwards, 64, Brazil, passed away in his home with family by his side, Feb. 2, 2013, after brief battle with cancer. Born on June 19, 1948, to Ernest Edwards and Betty Baldwin Edwards. Monte graduated from Mitchell High School (Mitchell, Ind.) in 1966. After serving time, as a security specialist, in the United States Air Force he was honorably discharged in 1973. He went on to earn his Associate’s Degree in Industrial Drafting from Vincennes University in 1976. In 1977, he started the first of his 35 years in the engineering department of Great Dane Trailers, in Brazil.
He enjoyed bowling, classic cars, and playing his guitars. His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Rice Edwards; and sister, Debra Ann Edwards Crane.
Survivors include his wife, of 36 years, Christine Edwards; his mother, Betty Edwards of Mitchell; his brother, Marty Edwards of Mitchell; daughters, Angie (Mark) Lloyd of Covington, Candi (Richard) Grimes of Terre Haute, Becky (David) Arthur of Portland, Ore., and Balinda (Scott) Wagner of Eminence; and son, Monte (Natale) Edwards Jr. of Fishers; grandchildren, Angelique Reisinger, Jacquelyn Hunter, Max Reisinger Jr., Zachary Reisinger, Shelby Farren, Nicholas Wagner, Lexi Lloyd, Brieanna Wagner, Dakota Arthur, and Nicolette Edwards; and great-grandson, Aiden Reisinger.
A memorial service will be held at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., in Brazil, Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. with the memorial service starting immediately after.
