Norma Ruth (Stott) Hobson, 80, of Terre Haute, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Clinton Gardens. She was born on Aug. 6, 1932, in Terre Haute, to William and Margaret (Buck) Stott. She was the 11th child of 13 born to her parents. She attended Gerstmeyer High School.
In 1952, she was united in marriage to Alonzo Hobson Jr. He preceded her in death 14 years ago. They were blessed with two sons, Michael A. Hobson and his fiancée Michelle of Fort Branch and Mark D. Hobson of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Casey (Brian) Stevens, Beau Hobson, Josh (Sara) Hobson, and Brittany Hobson; great-grandchildren, Austin and Coltyn Hobson; sisters, Mary (Stott) Fox, Doris (Stott) Hammond and husband Norman, and Helen (Stott) Clark and husband Gordon; and brother-in-law, James Jackson.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, William, Roland, John, Jim, Ralph, Paul, Bobby, and Forrest Stott; and one sister; Annie (Stott) Jackson.
Norma will be remembered for her love of family, her quick wit, and easy laughter. She was a great housewife and cook. She was a bingo enthusiast during her active years. She also enjoyed listening to the Gaither musical tapes and shows. She was at peace with herself and God. She expressed her eagerness to go to Heaven to meet with God and her family.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., with a visitation from 4 until the time of the service. Online condolences may be made at: www.mattoxwood.com
