BRAZIL —
Katherine Imogene (Thompson) Harms, 88, of Brazil, joined her beloved husband, Otto, in heaven at 4:12 p.m. Jan. 29, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born May 11, 1924, in Clay County, she was the daughter of Arthur R. Thompson and Hila (Gum) Thompson. Her husband, Otto Harms, whom she married July 2, 1942, preceded her in death, Oct. 21, 2004.
Her life was centered upon her husband and family. Imogene and Otto worked together to run “Otto’s Gas Company” (a propane gas company). As the years went by her phone calls kept their family connected by making sure all knew the love and important events going on in each family member’s life. Imogene graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1942.
She was a lifetime member of Bridgeton Baptist Church and more recently had been attending East Side Christian Church with her son and family. She also was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Eastern Star Lodge 80, as well as a former member of the 7:30 Home Ec Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Harms; and a brother-in-law, Charles McHargue.
She is survived by her son, Ron (Linda) Harms; a sister, Norma McHargue; nephew, Charles (Linda) McHargue; grandchildren, Melinda (Bernie) Meunier, Molly (Roger) Schopmeyer, Melanie (Ray) McIlrath, Rusty (Jill) Harms, and Dava (Phil) Boor; great-grandchildren, Bralynne (Mark) Meyers, Brek Meunier, Brinn Otto (Whitney) Meunier, Bryce (Maria) Schopmeyer, Bryleigh (Derrick) Smith, Aaron McIlrath, Corrie McIlrath, Robert McIlrath, Trey Boor, Dalyn Boor, William Harms, and Owen Harms; great-great-grandchildren, Kullen Otto Meunier, Katherine Meyers (her namesake), Klaire Meyers, Braxton Schopmeyer, Easton Schopmeyer, Calli Meunier, Chloe Meunier, and Willow Robbins; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave., in Brazil, Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Brock officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, Saturday, from 11 a.m. until time of services. Donations may be made to Clay County Humane Society, PO Box 277, Brazil, IN 47834, in her memory.
