TERRE HAUTE — Jack D. Joy, 80, of West Terre Haute, is again reunited with his girl, the love of his life, Betty Jean Joy, to whom he was married for 60 years. Betty preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2011. Jack passed away at 5:27 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Union Hospital in Terre Haute.

He was owner and operator of The Collector Pawn Shop in Terre Haute for many years. He was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Vigo County, to Delbert Joy and Margaret Mary Crosby Joy.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Joedy Graham of Plainfield, Ind.; two sons, Danny Joy of Tampa, Fla., and David Joy and his wife, Jenny of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister, Rita Brown of Terre Haute; father-in-law, Denny Wilson of Terre Haute; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Joy. Jack was an accomplished musician and an avid trumpet player. He was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall Of Fame in 2007. He was the family historian. He loved to reminisce with the family and tell stories about how things used to be growing up and about how things used to be around Terre Haute and West Terre Haute. Most of all, Jack was a loving husband and father and a faithful friend to many.

Funeral services for Jack will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Fitzpatrick Funeral home, with Sister Dorothy Rasche, S.P., and Sister Betty Hopf, S.P., officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday.
