CLINTON — John Shepard, 82, of Clinton, died at his residence at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013.

He was born April 28, 1930, in Hillsdale, to John and Lura Cooke Shepard.

John was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War, where he served as a photographer. He graduated in 1963 from Bebout Chiropractic College and opened his own chiropractic office in Clinton, until he retired in 2011. He was a 20-year driver for the City of Clinton Fire Department. He is a member of the Jerusalem 99 F&AM Lodge and the Vemillion County Low Twelve Club.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Sollars Shepard of Clinton, three sons, Rick and Sylvia Shepard of Arizona, Ron Shepard and Julia of Hillsdale, Sean Shepard and his fiancé Kindra of Clinton.; two daughters, Robin and Gil Edwards of Dana, and Toni and Curt Powers of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving is one brother, Martin and Esther Shepard of Clinton, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Harlan, Bert, Wayne and Gene Shepard.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday in Frist Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday at Frist Funeral Hone, with the Rev. Danny Caulkins officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion and VFW. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
