TUCKER, Ga. —
Lawrence William “Larry” Leach, 73, of Tucker, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, following an illness. Larry was born July 20, 1939, in Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Dorothy and Lawrence H. Leach; and sister, Dorothy Ann Witt.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Paula Welch Leach; children, Lori and Dexter Lummus, Michael Leach, Pam and Tim Morris, James and Rachel Leach, and Mary Beth Leach; grandchildren, Matt and Melissa Lummus, Christopher and Ashley Leach, Calob, and Nathan Morris.
Larry served his country as a member of the Indiana Air National Guard and retired from the Georgia Army National Guard. He worked for and retired from AT&T in the engineering department. He was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, in Decatur, Ga. Larry’s volunteer efforts included being a soccer coach, where he enjoyed working with and touching the lives of many young people.
The mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Master Sgt. Paul Fogarty at 9 a.m., Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Decatur. Interment with full military honors will follow at noon in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, Ga. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Salvation Army. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m., in A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, in Decatur.
