TERRE HAUTE —
Lou Ellen Pea, 70, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 10:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Royal Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She retired as a secretary from Indiana State University after many years of service. She was born Aug. 11, 1942, in West Terre Haute, to Edgar Vandeventer and Helen Allen Vandeventer. Her husband, W. Larry Pea, whom she married on May 13, 1961, in West Terre Haute, preceded her in death on March 4, 2012.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Pea of West Terre Haute; sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bob Canada of West Terre Haute; brother and sister-in-law, George and Gloria Vandeventer of Terre Haute; special friends, whom she thought of as sons, Steve McKinney and wife Kristie of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, and Ferris Benjamin and wife Kate of West Terre Haute; three nieces, Amanda Solesky and husband Mark, Paula Oldag and husband Tom, and Nancy Meadows and husband Bart; two nephews, Bob Canada II, and George Vandeventer Jr. and wife Mary; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Hendricks; two nieces, Roxanne Meadows and Linda Jergens; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Phillis Pea.
She and Larry were avid race fans and especially enjoyed attending sprint car races and visiting with friends at the Terre Haute Action Track.
Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, with Pastor Debbie Wence officiating. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until service time Wednesday.
