TERRE HAUTE —
Berniece E. Baggs, 87, of Terre Haute, passed away at 3:25 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born April 11, 1925, in the McKeen area of Clark Co., Ill., the daughter of Theodore Somers and Flossie May Joy Somers. She married Daniel T. Baggs on Jan. 10, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2012.
She was retired from Quaker Maid of Terre Haute and was later employed by First Financial Bank.
Surviving are a sister, Dorothy Kirby of Terre Haute; a brother, Norman “Gib” Somers and his wife Mary of Dennison, Ill., and several nieces and nephews. In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward Somers, Albert Somers, John Somers and Mitchell Somers; and two sisters, Erma Alcorn and Irene Calloway.
She was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of Post 792 and First Financial Bank Gold Club.
Services in honor of her life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., in Terre Haute, with the Rev. David Deal officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
