Frank Jones Jr.

BRAZIL, Ind. — Frank Jones Jr., 82, of Brazil, passed away Jan. 12, 2013, at Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility. He had been a resident there a short time. He was born Feb. 13, 1930, at the family home in Parke County, Ind., the oldest child, born to Frank Jones Sr. and Marie Williams Jones. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. As a young man, Frank worked at American Vitrified and then later worked at Stran Steel Corporation until the plant closed. Frank began doing concrete work in 1980s as “Jones Concrete” for residential customers across the Wabash Valley. Following retirement, Frank has enjoyed spending time at the Hardees’s coffee group in the morning; enjoying blue-grass music; following the Indiana Pacers and NASCAR racing. Frank has been a long time, faithful member of First Church of the Nazarene.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herschel Jones; and two sisters, Wynona Wesley and Martha Cox.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Swalls Jones, whom he married on Nov. 28, 1958; their daughter, Connie Robison and husband Danny of Brazil; grandchildren, Shawna Moore (Brandon), Travis Robison (Tya), and Sara High (Brenon); two great-grandchildren, Connor High and Katlyn High; one sister, Opal Brooks; five brothers, Wilbur Jones (Barbara) of Brazil, Floyd Jones (Brenda) of Terre Haute, Glen Jones (Marge) of Parke County, Chuck Jones of Staunton, and Leroy Bridgewater (Carla Jean) of Oakland City; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. at French Funeral Home, 421 E. National Ave., in Brazil, with Pastor Gary Bechtel officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be provided by VFW 1127 and American Legion Post 2 at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday prior to services.
