PARIS, Ill. —
Mr. Shirley Burnett Eldredge, age 85, of Villa Rica, Ga., and formerly of Paris, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 4, 1927, in Garland, in Edgar County, the son of the late Burnett and Undine Geiling Eldredge. A 1946 graduate of Paris High School, he lived his entire life in Paris before moving to Villa Rica to be closer to his family. He was employed by the railroad, the Buick Garage, and he was owner and operator of Shirley’s DX Gas Station in Paris. He served as County Clerk of Edgar County for more than two decades, and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Mr. Eldredge was a member of Lake Ridge Christian Church, Lodge 77 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Edgar County Shrine Club, the Kiwanis Club of Paris, Paris Little League Basketball, and Paris Little League Baseball.
Survivors include four sons, Brad Eldredge and wife Clare of St. Charles, Mo., Greg Eldredge and wife Peggy of Villa Rica, Ga., Chris Eldredge and wife Robin of Franklin, Tenn., and Jason Eldredge and wife Chrissy of Westfield, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Scott Eldredge and wife Jordan of Dallas, Abby Limberg and husband David of Douglasville, Ga., Cary Eldredge and wife Kelly of Lake St. Louis, Mo., Alexis Eldredge McHardy and husband Duncan of St. Charles, Ian Eldredge and wife Candice of Villa Rica, Brice Eldredge and Brett Eldredge, both of Nashville, Tenn., and Gigi Eldredge of Westfield, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren, Lindsay Eldredge, Drake Limberg, Ben Eldredge, Nick Eldredge, Bella Limberg, Cale Eldredge, Ryan Eldredge, Carter Eldredge; sisters, Sandra Smithson and husband Gene of Ocala, Fla., and Elaine Becker of Paris; and brother-in-law, Dale Crumrin of Marshall.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Anna “Spizz” Eldredge, on March 6, 2012; sister, Glenna Dee Keller; and brother-in-law, Norman Becker.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. CST Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in Lake Ridge Christian Church, 122 E. Steidl Road. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, from 3 to 7 p.m at the church. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery.
