SHELBURN — David Earl Petty, 81, of Shelburn, passed away at 8:22 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Chicago, Jan. 14, 1931, the son of Wilcy Petty and Mary Reed Petty

David was a member of Church of Christ in Prairie Creek, a Korean War U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of Shelburn American Legion Post 197. He also retired from Breed Power Plant in Fairbanks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Marcus Petty. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Regina Harris Petty, whom he married on May 23, 1951; one son, Gregg Petty (Kim) of Shelburn; one daughter, Dee Petty of Shelburn; a brother, Paul Petty (Lauretta) of Colorado; two grandchildren, Chad Petty (Jen), and Jenna Smith (Angelo); and one great-grandchild, Noah Smith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Banks and Brust Funeral Home, 400 N. Court St., in Sullivan, with the Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Graysville, with military graveside rites by Sullivan, Shelburn, Hymera Legion Posts, and Sullivan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
