Margaret E. Haugh

TERRE HAUTE — Margaret E. Haugh, 90, of Terre Haute passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. in her residence. She was a homemaker and had worked at American Glass. Margaret was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Sullivan County to Henry C. Altvater and Vivian (Ebby) Altvater.

She is survived by three daughters: Mary Miller and her husband Samuel of East Glenn, Jane Pearson of Terre Haute, and Paulette Davis of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, a sister: Evelyn Keegan, a niece, a nephew, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother: Violet Carson Altvater; two sons: James C. Haugh and Steve Lee Haugh; a daughter: Cecelia Lambert, and two brothers: Henry and Richard Altvater.

Margaret was a member of Maryland Community Church since the age of 13, and also a member of Senior Seekers. She was a Gold Star Mother (organization for mothers who have lost children in military service). She was also a very loving, Christian mother who was both a mother and father to her family and will be sadly missed.

Visitation will be Monday, May 7, 2012 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive with funeral services at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with the Revs. Abe Miller and Curtis Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to either VistaCare Hospice or toward the moving of the Vigo County Vietnam Veteran Memorial. Online condolences may be left at:
