David Ramey Gibbs July 9, 1947 - June 28, 2012

David Ramey Gibbs, 64, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Bloomington Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born July 9, 1947, in Terre Haute, to Maver J. Gibbs and Vanita M. Gibbs.

David was a graduate of Garfield High School in 1965. He earned his bachelor’s of science degree in technology, in 1976, from Indiana State University and worked for General Motors Powertrain, in Bedford for 33 years. David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Friends and family alike will recall David’s ability to light up a room with his vibrant personality and humor.

David is survived by his mother, Vanita M. Gibbs; his wife, Virginia Roelke Gibbs; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Richardson and her husband Jason of Clermont, Fla.; and Catherine M. Reeves and her husband Alexander of Bloomington, Ind.; and three grandchildren, Olivia, Cooper, and Sophie Richardson. He was preceded in death by his father.

There will be a private gravesite interment at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that contribution be made in memory of David R. Gibbs to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 911 East 86th St. Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 or via website at www.kidneyindiana.org.
