TERRE HAUTE — Helen Jean “Jeanie” Martin, 70, of West Terre Haute, passed away at 5:55 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, in her sister’s residence, in West Terre Haute, after a battle with Leukemia. She was born Oct. 3, 1942, in Terre Haute, to Raymond R. Frye Sr. and Mary D. Lyon Frye.

She retired in 2008 from Indiana State University, where she had worked for eight years. She had previously been employed with the Packard Shirt Company in Terre Haute for several years.

Her husband, Daniel O. Martin, whom she married in 1999, preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors include her son, Mark Gomolisky of West Terre Haute, and he has been so loving and devoted to his mother; her stepdaughter, Connie Jo Rollings and her husband Ron of West Terre Haute; her stepson, Steve Martin and his wife Carman of West Terre Haute; her sister, Mary Lou Fugate and her husband John of West Terre Haute; her brother, James Frye Sr. of San Antonio; six nieces, Teresa Reese (Tom), Mary Katherine Frye, Laura Frye, Ruth Frye, Pam Switzer, and Kelly Johnson; four nephews, Rick Fugate (Lori), James Frye Jr., Jeffrey Frye, and Raymond Frye III; three aunts, Jean Jones of Franklin, Christina Turner of Ohio, and Marion Murray of Indianapolis; and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

Special thank you to her cousin, Tina Lathrop, for her visits and caring. She also was preceded in death by her mother in 1996; her father in 1991; her stepson, Danny Ray Martin; a sister, Geneva Martin; a brother, Raymond Frye Jr.; and aunts and uncles.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6574 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to be outside especially by a campfire with family and friends. She will be sadly and deeply missed by her loved ones.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., in West Terre Haute, with a V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary memorial service at 7 p.m. and a brief service with the Rev. Merrill Weir officiating. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice with envelopes available in the funeral home.
