Regena Hilbrich

Regena Hilbrich, resident of San Jose, Calif., and formerly of Terre Haute, born to Lula and Harlan Houpt, in Dugger. Regena and her sister Georgia enjoyed a close relationship with their parents, and shared an early love of music. Regena was valedictorian of Garfield High, and became the first college graduate in her family, earning a BS in Math/Physics at Purdue.

She married Glenn Hilbrich in 1954. Together they raised four children, moving throughout the Midwest East Coast, settling in San Jose, in 1975. An energetic and devoted homemaker, Regena supported her children toward excellence in academics and athletics. In the 1980's she earned a degree in accounting and worked as a bookkeeper. She later become a dedicated member of the staff at Hospice of the Valley. In retirement Regena enjoyed, playing tennis, attending opera/ theater, gardening, and DIY home improvement. She also enjoyed many wonderful friendships and spending quality time with her grandchildren.

Regena is survived by sister, Georgia Evans, husband Glenn; sister-in-law, Margie; children, Greg (Grace), Bruce (Susan), Ellen (Bryan), and Sara (AJ); and grandchildren, Rene, Heron, Megan, Kyle, and Kelsey; and nephews, Mark, Mitch, and Dale.
