  UPDATE 4: Deadly tornado roars through Oklahoma City suburb

  A monstrous tornado at least a half-mile wide roared through the Oklahoma City suburbs Monday, flattening entire neighborhoods and destroying an elementary school with a direct blow as children and teachers huddled against winds up to 200 mph. At least 51 people were killed, and officials said the death toll was expected to rise.

TERRE HAUTE — Betty D. Musselman, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at the Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. She was born in Brazil, to Gayle and Hester Hauck, on Feb. 21, 1931.

She was a member of Y-Me Club (Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors, Inc.), Springcreek Home Economics Club, and Rio Grande Baptist Church. She loved to cook, gardening, and spoiling her family. She was always there for anybody.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gayle and Hester Hauck; her husband, Richard Musselman; and a sister, Beverly Carter.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Debra Gillespie and her husband Steven and Penny Wittenmyer and her husband Jack; sisters, Mary Jackson and Gail Macy; brothers, Paul Hauck and James Hauck; and a grandson, Rich Baker of Rosedale.

Services will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., with visitation Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Matt Larimer. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at: roselawnfuneralhome.net
