TERRE HAUTE — Barbara Loyd Petry, 86, of Terre Haute, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in Union Hospital. Bobby, as she was known by her friends, was born November 30, 1925 in Terre Haute to Otis Krise and Etta Azell Krise. She graduated from Wiley High School in 1945, and attended Indiana State University.

She had two sons, John Ross and Douglas S. who were the loves of her life. The death of her youngest, Douglas, in 1982 broke her heart and she carried this burden silently for the rest of her life.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Petry; older son, John Ross Petry of Fishers, IN; and four grandchildren, Jessica L. Petry, Jonathon D. Petry, Julia K. Petry, and James R. Petry. In addition to her son Douglas, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Luetta Lowe.

Barbara was a member of First Baptist Church and the Sycamore Country Club. She was a proud mother and grandmother.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012, in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street, with Reverend Bernie Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled prior to services on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
