TERRE HAUTE —
Doris Jean Bradbury, 82, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in her residence surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 12, 1930, in Terre Haute to Lawrence E. Thomas and Bernadine E. Waldon Thomas.
She was a 1948 graduate of Gerstmeyer Technical High School and was employed by the Vigo County School Corporation as a cafeteria worker at Wabash Elementary School. Doris was a member of the Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church, Christian Women’s Association, Methodist Women's Club, and the Public Employees' Retirement Fund. Doris was an excellent cook, especially baking and decorating cakes for friends and family. She enjoyed singing, whether it be in the choir or as a solo. Most of all Doris loved her family, they were her heart and soul, she touched many lives and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Gary Wayne Bradbury; one brother; Larry Thomas; one sister, Carolyn Poff; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Bradbury, and one great-grandson; Carston.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, whom she married on Aug. 15, 1948, Robert Bradbury; one son, Ed Bradbury and his wife Kathy of Dennison, Ill.; two daughters; Sue Anderson and her husband Rob, and Debbie Hartman and her husband Ron “Dale” all of Terre Haute; one brother, Jerry Thomas of Terre Haute, and one sister, Judy Lints and her husband Leroy of Clay City. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Megan DeGroote and her husband Culley, Emily Myles, Ashley Foster, Christina Anderson, Scott Anderson, Steve and Melissa Dowell, Kelly and David Stout, Sarah and Steve Tindal, R.J. Hartman, and B.J. Hartman; 10 great-grandchildren; Peyton, Aniyah, Joseph, Madison, Shelby, Preston, Jake, Evan, Maddox, and Ava, as well as many other friends, family and loved ones.
Funeral Services for Doris will be 11 a.m. Friday Nov. 16, 2012, at Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church at 1401 Barbour Avenue, Terre Haute, Ind., with Pastor’s Bob Roush and Tim Voll officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be today Nov. 15, 2012, at Barbour Avenue United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home.
