James Richard Fisher, longtime Tribune-Star worker

TERRE HAUTE — James Richard Fisher, age 73 of Brazil, Ind., joined his parents Carl and Lucille Brush Fisher; brother, “Tink” and daughter, Terri Lynn on June 26, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in Heaven.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1938, in Clay County, Ind. He graduated from Staunton High School with the Class of 1956. He attended Linotype School in English, Ind. and then began work at Mills Publications in Hoopeston, Ill. He married Lois Jean Potts Dec. 3, 1960. He continued work at the Interstate Publishing in Danville, Ill. and then at the Terre Haute Tribune-Star where he worked for 44 years. Upon his retirement, he joined the Izaak Walton League and spent time riding his John Deere tractor to help mow grass.

He was a member of the Asbury Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 409, Zorah Shrine, and the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; sons, James Dean Fisher (Jerri) and Jon Scott Fisher; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Mienheartt (Clyde); several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other extended family.

Moore Funeral Home was chosen to provide cremation services. A graveside burial service at Calcutta Cemetery will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 Eighth Ave., Terre Haute IN 47804 or Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa FL  33607.
