TERRE HAUTE — Norman D. Harmon Jr., 70, of Ellis, Kan. died at 5:50 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Hays Medical Center, Hayes, Kan. He was born Jan. 24, 1942, in Terre Haute, Ind. to the late Norman D. Harmon Sr. and Virginia (Sweeney) Harmon. His marriage was to Jane A. Harmon on Oct. 24, 1965, in Lafayette, Ind. She survives in Ellis.

He was the Pastor at Ellis Baptist Church in Ellis at the time of his death. He also pastored other churches in Indiana, Missouri, and Kentucky. Prior to entering his ministry he was a 17 year employee of Con-Rail Railroad in Avon, Ind. He also served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. He was a graduate of Brownsburg High School. Pastor Harmon enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf, but what he enjoyed most of all was the sharing of the gospel of Christ with the lost.

He is also survived by his son, Michael Allen (Patti) Harmon; brother, Rod (Brenda) Harmon; half-Brothers, David and Bill Harmon; four grandchildren, Christian, Ricky, Makiya, and Brayden Harmon; mother-in-law, Emarene Abolt of Monticello; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Sam) Miller of Monticello.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vicki Warweg and Susie Harmon; one brother, Joe Harmon; and his son, Rick Harmon.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 20 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Pastor Bob Ferguson and Pastor Rod Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery, rural Monticello.
