TERRE HAUTE —
Stephen “Steve” James Hastings II, 46, of Naperville, Ill., passed away Dec. 16, 2012. He was born Jan. 14, 1966, in Terre Haute, Ind.
He is survived by his wife, Maristella “Maris” Torres Hastings, and his two young children, Nathaniel Henry Hastings and Kiana Elizabeth Hastings. Steve also is survived by his father, Stephen Hastings I and wife Anna (Harris) Hastings; mother, Linda (Ralston) Hargis and husband Cecil “Butch” Hargis Jr.; his siblings, Alicia (Hastings) McKinney and husband Mike McKinney, Kristin (Hargis) Garrison, James Hastings, and Stephanie Hastings; his nephews, Noah Zurcher, Grayson McKinney and Gavin Garrison; his grandmother, Marjorie Ralston; stepgrandmother, Myrtle Harris; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Steve was a marathon runner and bicyclist in his earlier years, and then he became an avid world traveler. He met his beloved wife, Maris, during his travels and they continued their adventures together. He lived life like he had no brakes and enjoyed every minute of it. Steve was a communications engineer at Alcatel Lucent and previously worked at USA Group (Indianapolis).
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m., with services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, in Terre Haute. There will be visitation an hour prior to services on Thursday. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, near Riley, following services. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a memorial account at Old National Bank for the benefit of Nathaniel Henry Hastings and Kiana Elizabeth Hastings.
