James Lee Petty, 41, passed away due to an accident on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012. He was born Jan. 5, 1971, to Mitchell Petty and Ruby Frink. James married Summer Felton on Jan. 6, 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Summer; their sons, Jordan Petty and Rene Carr; his parents; three brothers, Bob (Beverly) Petty, Mitch (Crystal) Petty, and Aaron (Amy) Frink; one sister, Roxane Horton; several nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Suzi Felton Beagley; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Missy Gillespie; and sister-in-law, Jana Felton. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Lee Felton; and his brother-in-law, Chip Felton.
He graduated from Hillsdale Christian School in 1990. He was “Hollywood,” a journeyman millwright in Local 1076. James was a Christian and his family attends the Southside Church of Christ in Terre Haute. He enjoyed bowling with the church league, playing softball, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
James was a very loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family and friends.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, at Southside Church of Christ, 4117 South 7th Street, in Terre Haute. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. followed by his memorial service at 7:30 p.m., officiated by Scot Harris. Memorial contributions may be made to Southside Church of Christ India Mission Fund.
