CLAY CITY —
Flora Irene Horn, 80, of Clay City, passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. Flora was born June 15, 1930, the daughter of Ernest and Vina (Stanley) Fisher, in Terre Haute. She moved to Coal City at the age of 12. She married James Dean Horn on May 2, 1953. They moved to Hammond in 1956. She lived there until 1990. They then moved back to Clay City.
Flora was a member of Clay City Church of Christ and the Ladies Auxiliary Post 6606. She was a loving wife, mother, and a great cook. She enjoyed collecting dolls and working with the church and VFW.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, James Dean Horn II. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Dean Horn of Clay City; daughters, Cora Flagg and husband Les of Jasonville, and Beverly Pettis and husband Jim of Merrillville; five grandchildren, Brian Hopman, Aaron Pettis and wife Angie, Brandon Pettis, Patrick Flagg, and Allison Kappas and husband Jeremy, all of Northwest Indiana; two great-grandchildren, James and Jacob Pettis
Service will be Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, 301 E. Eighth St., in Clay City, with Pastor Scott Wiley officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southern Care Hospice, Springhill Junction Terre Haute, IN 47802.
