Gary Yancey Adam Dykes, of Terre Haute, crossed the river of life into the gates of Heaven on Jan. 21, 2013, at 5:15 p.m. Gary worked in the nursing profession for more than 20 years. He was a member of Club Soda, Eagles Aerie 291, Club Gobi, and Triangle Club of Paris, Ill. Gary enjoyed working at the election polls for the Democratic Party.
Gary was preceded in death by his granny, Lucile Dykes; mother, Mary Lou Nagle; brother, Monty Smith; father, Bennie Dykes; uncle, Bill Dykes; and very good friend, Odessa Ellingsworth.
Gary leaves behind his twin sister; Sherry Anya Lynn Moore of Florence Miss.; sisters; Faith Switzer and husband Gary of Albertville, Ala., and Deanne Lanning and husband Virgil of Greencastle; nieces, Renee Tew, Kati and Erica McCarter, Sarah Donald, and Sarah Switzer; nephews, Joshua Lee, Sonney Basham, Stephen, Seth, and Skylar Switzer, and Trevor Lanning; many great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as friends, family, and loved ones.
A private service for his family will be held at a later date; however, Gary wishes that in lieu of flowers, friends and family raise a cup of coffee and make a toast in his memory. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at: www.greinerfuneralhome.com
