CENTERPOINT — Lynn Burgess, 59, of Centerpoint, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Jan. 17, 2013, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born in Ohio on Oct. 4, 1953, the daughter of Meryle and Catherine (Vallely) Buckner. She graduated from high school. She married Charles Burgess on Sept. 18, 1971. Lynn loved raising her family. She was a hard worker and enjoyed life and was talented at restoring vehicles, cooking, working jig saw puzzles and playing euchre.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Meryle and Catherine Buckner; husband, Charles Burgess; two brothers, Jim Buckner and David Buckner; and a sister, Jane Ann Burgess.

Lynn is survived by her sons, Ed Burgess (Teresa) of Brazil, Joseph Burgess (Stacey) of Indianapolis, Michael Burgess (Catherine) of Clay City, Charles Burgess of Terre Haute, David Burgess (Loretta) of Terre Haute and Timmy Burgess (Vanamie) of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Damien, Shayna, Colton, Alexis, Cooper, Joshua, Leslie, Cassandra, Austin, Jake and Jayden; a brother, William Buckner of Centerpoint; two sisters, Patricia Micheli (Marc) of Florida and Gerri Burskey (Leo) of Terre Haute; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, with Pastor Lon Rector officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 5635 W. 96th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
