MONTEZUMA —
Martha Jean Cox, 79, of Montezuma, passed away at 11:35 p.m. Sunday, Jan 13, 2013, in her residence. She was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Clinton, to Clarence Gerrish and Madonna Freed Gerrish. She married Dane Cox on Nov. 27, 1952, in Indianapolis, and he survives. She was a secretary for Cox Trucking and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Montezuma Christian Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and a past member of the Art Gallery. She was formerly a 4H and Cub Scout leader.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Dale Gerrish.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Daryl and Sherry Cox of Indianapolis; three daughters, Gina and Mike Watson of Mount Zion, Ill., Lou Ann Cox of Terre Haute, and Deidre and Terry Drake of Center Point; eight grandchildren, Travis Sutton, Chad Watson, Christi Cox Lowe, Lindsey Watson Damery, Lacey Sutton, Amy Watson Guinn, Brandon Watson and Kevin Cox; eight great-grandchildren, Ashton, Dane, Hadleigh, Adalyn, Lexie, Braylon, Shae and Cael; one sister, Mildred Robertson of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Brown-Mack Funeral Home, in Montezuma, and 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with the Rev. Keith McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
