Marjorie Gruenholz Brill

TERRE HAUTE — Marjorie Gruenholz Brill, of Terre Haute, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2012, surrounded by her family in her residence. She was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Terre Haute, to Andrew A. Gruenholz and Ruth Beckett Gruenholz.

Marjorie was a graduate of State High School as well as Indiana State Teachers College - now Indiana State University. While attending Indiana State, she was the 1951 Junior Prom Queen. Marjorie was a member of Farmers Chapel Community Church and ISU Kappa Kappa sorority. She also was a real estate broker in Albuquerque, N.M. She enjoyed swimming, playing bridge and shopping, this as a resident of Washington DC, Virginia, South Dakota, Florida, New Mexico, California, and Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant great-grandson, Matthew Howell.

Survivors include her husband, Paul E. Brill, whom she married on June 12, 1953; her son, Jeffrey P. Brill (Trixy) of Delafield, Wis.; her three daughters, Julie D. Denny (Jack) and Lori Y. Lee (Sammy), both of Terre Haute, and Denise M. Brill of Nashville, Tenn. Marjorie also was survived by 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; her brother, Wm. Andrew Gruenholz of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; sister, Janet G. Martin of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; host of nephews and nieces; and special cousins, Lynn Gruenholz Caldwell of Indianapolis, and Norma Jean Gruenholz Nelson of Flowerville, Mich.

According to her wishes, cremation has been scheduled with a private service to be held at a later date. Greiner Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Farmers Chapel Community Church, 9213 South Sullivan Place, Terre Haute, IN 47802, or Indiana State University Foundation in Marjorie’s honor, or VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley, 400 8th Ave., Terre Haute, IN 47804. The family members wish to express their appreciation to Dr. Joel E. Elias and Dr. Magdy Nour, both of Terre Haute, and Dr. Giuseppe Del Priorie of IU Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, and the VNA Hospice for their care and compassion during Marjorie’s extended illness.
