TERRE HAUTE — Ralph Vernon Rooksberry, 84, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at Union Hospital. He was born April 11, 1928, in Sullivan, to Ralph Rooksberry and Stella Abrams Rooksberry.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth; son, Terry and wife Candie of Terre Haute; daughter-in-law, Paulette of Tampa; grandchildren, Leslie Tincher, Terry II, Keith (Stacy), Sabrina Truxal (fiancé Bryan) of Terre Haute, Amy (Jeff) Niemeyer of Avon, Robyn (Chris) Mathas of Rosedale, Dana Gitzinger, Karl Melching and Joshua Tucker of Tampa; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carolin in 2000; son, Joe in 2010; and four brothers; and two sisters.

He retired in 1984 from Conrail Railroad. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army. A veteran of the Korean War earning the Korean Service Award with three Bronze Service Stars.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, 7500 N. Clinton St., with visitation Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Jeff Niemeyer with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.
