TERRE HAUTE — Carolyn Sue Higginbotham, 64, of Terre Haute, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in Indianapolis. She was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Terre Haute, the daughter of the late William Perry and Rosemary Frances (Lawrence) Ellinger. She was united in marriage to her beloved husband of 28 years, Edward Unrau, who preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1997. She then was united in marriage on Aug. 19, 2000, to Jerry Higginbotham, who survives. Carolyn worked in the health care industry and enjoyed knitting, painting, casino trips, frequenting flea markets, traveling, spending time with her family and being a girl guide leader. A courageous and considerate woman, Carolyn will forever be remembered as caring, understanding and considerate. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her loving and devoted husband of 12 years, Jerry Higginbotham, Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Sheila and husband Wayne Thomson of Paisley, Ontario, Canada, Rosemary and husband Stephen Taylor of Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, and Caroline and husband Ken Perkins of Chelsey, Ontario, Canada. Carolyn was the proud and loving grandmother of Jamien, Mikey, Amanda, Tyler, Laura, Olivia, Stephanie and Shane. She also is survived by one great-grandchild, Kaidynce; three brothers, William Ellinger Jr. and wife Betty Lou, Daniel Ellinger and wife Joyce, Max Ellinger and wife Donna; two sisters, Brenda Gess and husband David, Donna Uhey and husband Mark; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her first husband, Edward, Carolyn was welcomed home to heaven by two brothers, Jerry and Johnny Ellinger, and one sister, Janet Ellinger.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, from 11 a.m. until Carolyn’s funeral ceremony at 12 noon, at Roselawn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at: www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
