Patricia Imogene Carter Reagin Gess, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, in Springhill Village. She was born in Mattoon, Ill. on July 1, 1929, to Grover Cleveland Carter and Myrtle Mary Tucker Carter.
She is survived by her husband H. Everett Gess, Sr. Also surviving are two sons; Dwight David Reagin of Danville, Ind. and Kenneth James Reagin of Anderson, Ind. as well as by two daughters; Donna Marie Reagin Mercer of Seattle, Wash. and Mary Esther Reagin Rider of Terre Haute. Also surviving are four stepsons; Tedd Alan Gess, H. Everett “Bud” Gess, Jr., Timothy Lorentz Gess, and Daniel Jared Gess as well as two stepdaughters; Sheryl Elaine Gess Dickey and Mary-Sylvia Diane Gess Wasberg. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild as well as two brothers and two sisters. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, and was a wonderful cook who was well known for her banana bread and no-bake cookies. She was a former member of the Kerman Grotto and was an avid Bingo player.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been chosen with a Private Celebration of Life Service given on behalf of her family. For those who desire, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, in her memory. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Funeral Homes and Crematory.
