TERRE HAUTE — David C. ‘Sonny’ Burke, of Lewis, formerly of Florida and Chicago, passed away May 15, 2012, at the residence of his daughter, where he has lived since August. He was born in Illinois on Aug. 6, 1930, to John and Frances Kostello Burke.

He retired as a superintendent and grounds keeper at a several country club golf courses in Illinois and Indiana. After relocating to Florida he was in charge of the estate grounds for Frances Langford, actress and movie star.

His wife, Glory Burke, preceded him in death. He also was preceded by two brothers and one nephew.

Survivors include his daughters, Donna Nottingham and husband LaVern, Cathy Jensen and husband Jeff; two sisters, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for noon (CDT) Thursday at Hickey Funeral Chapel, in Blue Island, Ill., with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, also in Blue Island. DeBaun Springhill Chapel assisted with local arrangements where online condolences may be offered at: www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
