TERRE HAUTE —
V. Kay Bryant, 71, of St. Mary-of-the-Woods, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, in her residence. She was born Oct. 5, 1941, in Brazil, to Roy Brown and Caroline Virginia Lofton Brown. She retired from Terre Haute Engraving after 20 years of service.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Sammy” Bryant, in 1995. Together they had owned and operated St. Mary-of-the-Woods Village Country Store for many years as well as later building and operating the country store at 150 and Bolton Road.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Bryant, who was the love of her life and his wife Brandi of Cookeville, Tenn.; her sister and best friend, Lia Patricia Moore and her husband Gary Lee Moore of Clay County; two brothers, Ralph Wayne Brown and his wife Patty, and William Sandforn Brown and his wife Pamela, all of Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Justin Bryant, Monica Bryant, Katie Leighann Bell, Samantha Bryant, and Aubree Leigh Bryant; a special friend, Peggy Osmon of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a graduate of Gerstmeyer High School, a member of St. Mary’s Village Catholic Church, and past president of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013, in the Village Church with Father Bernard Head officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday in Fitzpatrick Funeral Home, 220 N. 3rd St., in West Terre Haute. Friends are welcome to join the family at the funeral home for a prayer service at 12:30 p.m. and procession to the church for Mass.
