TERRE HAUTE —

Loren S. “Mitch” Mitchell, 82, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at 3:40 a.m., in his home in Terre Haute. He was born Sept. 21, 1930, in Shelburn, to the late James H. Mitchell and Joanna Mae (Godfrey) Mitchell-Turner. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Ann Akers on June 17, 1960. Mitch had worked on the railroad and retired from Columbia Records.

He enjoyed sports, pool, horseshoes, and bonfires with family and friends. Mitch also enjoyed spending quality time and relaxing with his wife, Mary, and his special cat, Smokey.

Mitch leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Mary; children, Harold “Bubby” Mitchell, Richard Mitchell, Mark and wife Lou Mitchell, Debra Kay and husband Bill Trout, and Denise Elaine Mitchell; two half brothers, John Turner, and Tim and wife Connie Turner; four granddaughters, Jamie and husband Charlie Burress, Melissa and husband Brad Woodard, Kimberly and husband Don Faulkner, Jessica and husband T.J. Griffith; three grandsons, Austin, Landon and Mason Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; along with close friends, Jesse LeBrun, Alfred and Martha Gallagher, and Jeff and Shannon Habermel.

Mitch was welcomed home to heaven by his parents; along with his daughter, Emma J. Moy; his grandson, Dillon C. Mitchell; and two sisters, Levon Ralston and Helena Moody.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, from 11 a.m. until Mitch’s funeral ceremony at 2 p.m., at Roselawn Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Minks of the Life Center Church will officiate. Burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in memory of Mitch may be directed to the family. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at:
