TERRE HAUTE — Patricia Joan Cooper Rushing, 83, of Terre Haute died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Union Hospital. She had worked as a Secretary and Teachers Assistant for the Vigo County School Corporation. She was born July 30, 1929 in Sullivan County, IN to Ira C. Long and Iva L. Wilson Long.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, John W. Rushing of Terre Haute; two sons, Gary J. Cooper and Dan Cooper both of Terre Haute; a daughter, Diana J. Rushing-Williams and her husband Mark of Colorado Springs, Colorado; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mary G. Cooper of Terre Haute; and a brother-in-law, Charles A. Rushing of Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Byron F. Cooper in 1962; a son, Mike F. Cooper; and a sister, Jean Neal.

Patricia was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed gardening, attending the Covered Bridge Festival, meeting with the Wild Bunch for Wednesday Evening meals at the Youngstown Grill and walking with her dog Toby.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 15, 2012 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street, with Pastor Aaron Wheaton officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday October 14, 2012 in the funeral home. If friends so desire Memorial Contributions may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society and Pet Adoption Center, P.O. Box 3307, Terre Haute, IN 47803.
