Bernard E. ‘Beanie’ ‘Main Man’ Dillon

PARIS, Ill. — Bernard E. “Beanie” “Main Man" Dillon, 83, of Fort Wayne, and formerly of Paris, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012. Born in Paris, Ill., Bernard worked as a shipping superintendent with Wabash Fiber Box for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of American Legion Post 777 and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed golfing, leather crafting and gardening.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Barbara Hamilton Dillon, children, Deborah  (Delmer) Helvie, Mark Dillon, Greg (Jeanette) Dillon, Phillip (Cheryl) Dillon, Christina (Chris) Roffelsen, all of Fort Wayne, Paul (Nanette) Dillon of Salisbury, N.C., and Ann Albright of San Diego; brothers, John (Lili) Dillon of Saratoga, Calif., Richard (Patty) Dillon of McCordsville, Ind., Larry (Helen) Dillon of Pleasanton, Calif., and Leo (Norma) Dillon of Indianapolis; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Bernard was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ellen Dillon.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4500 S. Fairfield Ave., with calling one hour prior to services Monday. Calling also from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, 6301 Fairfield Ave., with a Rosary recited at 3:30 p.m. Entombment in Covington Memorial Gardens.
