CLINTON — Tyler J. Haase, 20, of Fairview Park, (Clinton) died at 3:20 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, in Clinton. He was born on July 7, 1989, in Terre Haute, to Doug Haase and Susie Nestler-Myers. He was a student at Indiana State University in Terre Haute.
He was a graduate of South Vermillion High School, class of 2008; four-year Soccer Letterman at S.V.H.S. and achieved All Conference recognition along with teammate and friend Tom Norberg; four-year letterman of S.V.H.S. Bowling team including achieving national recognition as a member of first place 15 to 18 year old U.S.B.C. youth team. Tyler achieved this honor with friends and teammates Dillon Furry, Adam Smith, Trevor Monroney and Scott Johansen; he won sectionals in singles play in 2008 advancing to regional competition; was active in Terre Haute softball leagues; just completed his sophomore year at ISU; he was an avid sports fan of NASCAR, Tom Brady and New England Patriots and Chicago Cubs; and Tyler loved to travel in his spare time, his travels included Canada, Sweden, and several U.S. locations.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Sam Nestler on March 11, 2003; and uncle, Timothy W. Haase on April 23, 1993.
Survivors include his mother, Susie Nestler-Myers and her husband Jim of Clinton; his father, Doug Haase and his wife Shiela of Clinton; five sisters, Meredith Myers-Baker and her husband Matt of Terre Haute, Brittany Kirby and her fiancée Andy Cruse of Marshall, Ill., Whittney Kirby and fiancée Andy Memmer of Princeton, Kendall and Kyla Kirby, of Clinton; brother, Nate Myers and his wife Stacia of Ellettsville; maternal grandmother, Roberta Nestler of Clinton; paternal grandparents, Don and Minnie Milani-Haase of Clinton; aunts and uncles, Donna and Kris Lawson and cousins, Kaden and Kase, all of Clinton, Sammie Barker, Curt Nestler, Cindy Boyd, Scott Nestler, Gena Caskey and Toni Inman; cousins, Karen, Ronnie, Shaun, Sam, Adam, Jason, Geno, Scotti, Tony, Calvin, Jacqueline, and Ryan; special cousin, Isabela; and several other cousins.
Prayer service at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at Giovanini Funeral Home, 408 Vine St., in Clinton, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, in Clinton, with Father Joseph Villa officiating. Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Clinton. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Soccer Scholarship fund is being set up in Tyler’s name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
