Frank Bradley Crist

Frank Bradley Crist, 34, of Terre Haute died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 17, 2007 in Chicago. He was born Feb. 23, 1973 in Terre Haute to Frank Crist and Janet Williams Volkers. He was employed as adjunct professor at Columbia College teaching Interactive Arts and Media.

He was a 1991 graduate of Terre Haute South High School, a 2004 graduate of Columbia College with a major in Creative Fiction Writing and was working on his master’s thesis there.

He had a brilliant, artistic mind and was an easygoing free spirit who was a friend to everyone, and he especially enjoyed time with his nieces and nephew who knew him as “Captain Cheesebeard.” He had spent three months backpacking around Europe, and was an Eagle Scout. He also grew up attending Central Christian Church.

Survivors include his mother, Janet Volkers and her husband Frank of Terre Haute; his father, Frank Crist and his wife Sharon of West Terre Haute; the love of his life, Alisa Swindell of Chicago; maternal grandparents, Jerry and Lucille Williams of Terre Haute; four brothers, Kevin M. Crist of Terre Haute, Adam M. Crist and his wife Christina of Terre Haute, Frank S. Volkers and wife Kerry of Minneapolis and Kyle Volkers and wife Kristen of Terre Haute; a sister, Lauren N. Crist of Terre Haute; eight nieces and nephews, Cody Crist, Benjamin Volkers, Hannah Crist, Frank R. Volkers ll, Kassondra Volkers, Kara Volkers, John Volkers and Brenna Volkers; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Dr. Jack Volkers officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Frank Crist Memorial Fund, c/o Columbia College, 600 S. Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605.
