ROSEDALE — Gary Charles Herb, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, age 57, of Rosedale, passed away peacefully Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, after a 15-month battle with cancer. His wife and children were by his side. Gary was born Nov. 14, 1954, in Terre Haute, to the late Charles “Bud” Herb and Doris Herb.

He was the loving husband of Ramona Stevenson Herb, whom he wed Oct. 11, 1984. Three children were born from their union: Gary Lee (Catrina) Herb of Terre Haute, Gregory Charles Herb and Crystal Dawn Herb, both of Rosedale.

He was the youngest of seven children: Ramona (Ken) Tilford, Joan (Frank) Hoffman, Susie (Clyde) Kersey, Nancy Gardner, Bill (Phyllis) Herb and Rex (Brenda) Herb. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Ivan Gardner

He had a large extended family which included several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; cousins; and a special aunt, Millie Cleghorn.

He loved and was loved by many friends and co-workers.

Gary was a graduate of Terre Haute North High School. He spent 30 years of his working career as a journeyman pressman for Lambooy Unique which later became the Standard Register Company. He last worked for Green Leaf Inc. He enjoyed this job greatly.

Gary loved mushroom, deer and turkey hunting. He also loved old cars. Every summer he grew a beautiful vegetable garden. Tomatoes were his favorite.

Funeral services will be held at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 N. Lafayette Ave., Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. with Gary’s brother, the Rev. Bill Herb officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial park.
